National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus

The National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus is one of the leading museums in the country, the collection of which includes more than 500 thousand museum items, distributed over 60 collections (the biggest museum collection in Belarus). The structure of the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus includes 5 branches: The House-Museum of the 1st Congress of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party (RSDLP), The Museum of the History of Theater and Musical Culture of Belarus, The Museum of the History of Belarusian Cinema, The Museum of Modern Belarusian Statehood, The Museum of Nature and Ecology. Each of the branches has a permanent exhibition, own exhibition halls and conducts cultural and educational programs in accordance with its own specifics.

Today, the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus is a methodological and coordinating center in the system of state museums of local history and natural history at the republican level.Museum staff successfully represent the country at major international events.The museum was one of the founders of the International Alliance of Museums of the Silk Road.  

More than 130 exhibitions are held annually at the National History Museum of the Republic of Belarus and its branches.Much attention is paid to working with the museum audience.The museum’s practice includes new forms of museum communications, including work with kids and teenagers and creating a barrier-free environment.

Alexandre KhramyDirector

Alexandre Khramy was born in 1976 in the Vitebsk region of Belarus. In 1998 he took his master degree in history at the Maksim Tank Belarusian State Pedagogical University in Minsk. After pedagogical career in 2011-2013 he took position of the Academic Secretary of the National History and Culture Museum-Reserve Niasvizh. Mr. Khramy participated in the restoration work on the object of the UNESCO world heritage. In July 2012 the exposition of the museum and reserve in Niasvizh was opened to the public. Now Museum-Reserve Niasvizh is one of the most popular museum and tourist destinations in Belarus. Between 2013 and 2019 Mr. Khramy was the Deputy Director of the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus. In 2019-2021 he took position of the Director of the State Literary-Memorial Museum of Yakub Kolas in Minsk. Since April 2021 Mr. Khramy is the Director of the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus. He is also the Head of the Republican Council of Directors of Belarusian Museums.
